I was born in the beau­ti­ful bilin­gual can­ton of Fri­bourg, in wes­tern Switzer­land, a country known for its cul­tu­ral and lin­guis­tic diver­sity. My childhood was sha­ped by a mul­ti­lin­gual envi­ron­ment: at home and in school, French was the pre­do­mi­nant lan­gua­ge, but I was also surroun­ded by Ger­man, Ita­lian, and Por­tu­gue­se. This lin­guis­tic rich­ness not only gave me a well-roun­ded edu­ca­tion from an early age but also spar­ked my pas­sion for lan­gua­ges and cul­tu­res, as well as a deep res­pect for others.

After spen­ding my childhood and part of my tee­na­ge years in Switzer­land, like any child of immi­grants, it was time to move to Gali­cia, my parents’ home­land. In Xinzo de Limia, I com­ple­ted my secon­dary edu­ca­tion and had to quickly adapt to a new reality. This chan­ge was a real cha­llen­ge becau­se I was “the Swiss” to the locals and “the Gali­cian” to the Swiss, lea­ving me with a sense of not belon­ging.
