Paratradit Collection

In 2025, I laun­ched, together with my collea­gue José Yuste Frías, the Para­trans­la­tion, Inter­lin­guas, and Trans­me­dia (Para­tra­dIT) Collec­tion, published by the pres­ti­gious Ger­man publisher Peter Lang. This edi­to­rial pro­ject reaf­firms our com­mit­ment to research, inno­va­tion, and dis­se­mi­na­tion in the fields of para­trans­la­tion and lan­gua­ges, con­tri­bu­ting to the crea­tion of new ave­nues for know­led­ge and inter­dis­ci­pli­nary dia­lo­gue.

Abs­tract
Since the para­digm shift repre­sen­ted by the theo­re­ti­cal notion of para­trans­la­tion, crea­ted by the Trans­la­tion & Para­trans­la­tion Research Group (T&P), from the Uni­ver­sity of Vigo (Spain), the Para­trans­la­tion, Inter­lin­guas, and Trans­me­dia Collec­tion (Para­tra­dIT), direc­ted by José Yuste Frías and Óscar Ferrei­ro Váz­quez, invi­tes inter­dis­ci­pli­nary reflec­tion on para­tex­tua­lity for inter­na­tio­nal com­mu­ni­ca­tion among dif­fe­rent lan­gua­ges (inter­lin­guas) and cul­tu­res. ParatradIT’s main objects of study are the mate­rials, pro­ces­ses, modes, tech­ni­ques, stra­te­gies, ins­ti­tu­tions, tech­no­lo­gi­cal tools, arti­fi­cial inte­lli­gen­ces, and humans that enable lin­guis­tic and cul­tu­ral trans­fers, both on screen and on paper. Para­tra­dIT hosts the­med publi­ca­tions not only in the field of trans­la­tion and inter­pre­ta­tion, but also in rela­ted fields such as foreign lan­gua­ge tea­ching and second lan­gua­ge peda­gogy in cross-cul­tu­ral media­tion. Para­tra­dIT is a collec­tion always open to chan­ges in dif­fe­rent stra­te­gic sec­tors of trans­la­tion, such as the video game industry, where new para­tex­tual forms help crea­te dif­fe­rent ludo­graphic trans­me­dia narra­ti­ves on screen, posing new cha­llen­ges in the trans­crea­tion of video game loca­li­za­tion, in par­ti­cu­lar, and audio­vi­sual trans­la­tion, in gene­ral.
